My Abandoned Land

           MY ABANDONED LAND

Oh my land ! How wounded & scarred thou art,
What had I done for you, from my own part?

Sorrows and tears are there surrounding you,
While I sit miserably, watching your tattered view.

That night when I was here fast asleep,
Death on his chariot was taking long leaps.

When sleep was soothing our tired minds,
Sorrow was approaching you on both its hinds.

That mournful morning even the sun did not open
                its eyes for you,
Of that dreadful havoc even it didn’t have any clue.

With thunder  and  downpour came  thou wrath,
Oh Kedar! With thou fury, wail and tears you brought.

Corpses lying around and damp clouds floating in the sky,
Your atmosphere,  Oh my land !  is today filled with remorseful
              cries.

Why so abandoned and why so alone have we left you,
Tears roll down my cheek and guilt engulfs me when I
            think of you.

Why have we all left the land where we all grew?
Now its time to pay  our debts, that are on us,
            already  due.
